What manner of man is this, or what manner of creature, is it in the semblance of man? I feel the dread of this horrible place overpowering me; I am in fear - in awful fear - and there is no escape for me; I am encompassed about with terrors that I dare not think of ...
When lawyer Jonathan Harker travels to Transylvania to meet his client Count Dracula, he finds himself confronted with strange things: the neighbor gives him a rosary to protect him, and the bloody wound after shaving is examined by the count with a lustful look. Soon Harker recognizes: the count is a vampire! When Harker is locked in the tower to prevent his escape, things take a dire turn.
The Irish writer Bram Stoker (1847-1912) created with his novel "Dracula" probably the most famous vampire in history. Even today, there are countless adaptations of the novel, which was first published in 1897, including comics, films or musicals.
