Financial Accounting: First Semester Symphony

This introductory textbook accompanies the author's lecture of "Financial Accounting" for first-semester students at Cologne Business School.

This introductory textbook covers the traditional business school subject of financial accounting. Major target group are first-semester Bachelor and Master degree students in Europe and particularly in Germany who study business or management in English. In eleven chapters, the essential concepts of financial reporting are highlighted. With reference to legal regulation and the international rulesets of IFRS and US-GAAP, major requirements of financial reporting are covered. There are examples and there is reference to the business world to better understand the context of financial accounting and the purpose it serves. Each chapter is followed by exercises and the respective solutions.
