This is a new text in plastic surgery dealing exclusively with reconstructive surgery. Rather than taking a flap-based approach, it follows a regional, problem-based structure. The emphasis will be on decision-making algorithms, exploring controversies, and presenting cutting edge techniques. The authors are a "who's who" from the most prominent and accomplished reconstructive surgeons in the world. This is a practical text rather than an encyclopedic text, intended to provide the maximum value to the reader learning or reviewing reconstructive plastic surgery. It includes numerous video clips and addresses plastic surgery problems in a very clinically relevant way.

Dr Matthew Hanasono is a Professor and Reconstructive Microsurgery Fellowship Program Director in the Department of Plastic Surgery at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Hanasono's research interests include improving outcomes in reconstructive surgery for patients with cancers of the head and neck, breast and extremities. Dr. Hanasono has lectured nationally and internationally on a broad range of topics related to plastic and reconstructive surgery and has published more than 80 articles and 30 book chapters. In 2014, he was awarded the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery Godina Traveling Fellowship. Dr Steven Moran is Professor of Orthopedics, Hand Transplant Director and Professor of Plastic Surgery at the Mayo Clinic, Minnesota. His interests include pediatric and congenital hand problems, reconstructive microsurgery, and wrist and hand arthritis and he has published over 130 articles.Dr Samir Mardini is Professor of Surgery, Facial Transplant Director and Program Director at the Mayo Clinic, Minnesota. His interests include craniofacial and cleft lip and palate surgery, facial reanimation, functional muscle transfers for brachial plexus injuries, perforator flap surgery, reconstruction of finger amputations using microvascular transfer of toe flaps, reconstruction of complex wounds, and reconstruction of the breast, abdominal and chest walls, esophagus, head and neck. He has published over 110 articles and a book on reconstructive surgery and flaps.Dr Michael Saint-Cyr is Professor of Plastic Surgery at the Mayo Clinic, Minnesota. His interests include perforator flaps, DIEP breast reconstruction, post-oncologic reconstruction, hand surgery, lymphedema surgery, vascular anatomy of perforator flaps and quality of life and patient outcome research following reconstruction.
