In this thesis, ultrafast non-Hall photocurrents in GaAs were investigated. These photocurrents depend on very different microscopic mechanisms. During the analyzing process, timedependent models of the photocurrents were developed. With the help of theses models, extraction of relaxation times from the photocurrent measurements was accomplished at room temperature. Previous attempts to use ultrafast photocurrent measurements to extract information about ultrafast dynamics did not succeed. Only the unique mechanisms of the non-Hall photocurrents made it possible to extract the ultrafast dynamics for the first time.
