Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers: Epidemiology, Pathogenesis, Management, and Preparedness covers the causative agents, outbreaks, and clinical management of emerging and re-emerging viral hemorrhagic fevers. Coverage includes a range of topics from basic virology, epidemiology, and disease pathogenesis of emerging and re-emerging hemorrhagic fever viruses. The book examines host-virus interactions, immune pathogenesis, and recent trends in disease diagnostics. It also covers current state-of-the-art in understanding molecular mechanisms of disease pathogenesis, the potential of molecular markers for disease prognostics, early prediction of disease outcome, advancements in diagnosis and drug development, and strategies in pandemic preparation, mitigation, and responses in public health security. With chapters written and compiled by a team of well-known virologists, clinicians as well as regulatory and public health experts. This book is a comprehensive guide that will help users understand the transmission, pathogenesis, and clinical management of emerging and re-emerging viruses causing hemorrhagic diseases.

Dr. Agiesh Kumar Balakrishna Pillai is currently working as Deputy Director and Senior Scientist in CIDRF, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth Deemed University. He completed his Masters Degree in Biotechnology from Pondicherry Central University. He later obtained PhD in Biotechnology and Microbiology from Vector Control Research Centre, a WHO collaborating ICMR Permanent Centres. Dr. Kumar had his first postdoctoral training in the areas of molecular parasitology from Texas Tech University and the second postdoc from Department of Cellular Biology at the University of Georgia in the areas of RNA interference and ISH. He started his career as an Assistant professor at SASTRA University, TamilNadu and has about eleven years of teaching and research experience. He has published several papers in virology and has served as a reviewer in high impact international peer reviewed journals. His current research focus includes dengue and arboviral pathogenesis, biomarkers for infectious diseases, and developing prognostic devices. Sunil V Manjila is Staff Neurosurgeon at McLaren Bay Region Hospital, Bay City, MI, USA. Dr. S.R. Rao is currently Vice President of Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth a health care university in Pondicherry. During his service in the Government of India for 30 years, he had gained knowledge and experience in dealing with R&D promotion in agricultural medical and animal biotechnology. Dr. Rao is founder and editorial board member of the Asian Biotechnology Development Review (ABDR) and co-founder and convener of The Global Alliance for Pandemic Preparedness & Response (APAR) advancing Global Health Security through South-South & North-South Collaboration (www.aparweb.org) He has published 55 research papers in national/international Journals including four strategic reviews in high impact journals on preparedness and Covid 19 pandemic and published two books on animal vaccines and diagnostics and biotechnology. He has visited more than 80 countries on scientific and official matters and made more than 100 scientific and technical presentations in cutting edge areas of the biological sciences. Dr. Rao has spent the majority of his 30 year career working for the Government of India. He joined the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology Government of India in 1989 and progressed to become Senior Advisor to Government of India.
