I am not a fitness instructor, nor do I have a coaching license.

From Earl Nightingale, The Strangest Secret in the World:

During the 1950s, a survey was made in the USA of one hundred working men aged 25.

The survey contained two questions:

  1. Do you want to be rich?
  2. Will you be rich?

Without a moment of hesitation, all one hundred men answered “Yes!” and “Yes!” Every single one of them were eager and had a positive attitude apropos the world. There was a certain sparkle in their eyes, radiating assuredness of a bright and abundant future.

Except for the top few, the majority play the world’s most undesirable yet common game known as “follow the follower.”

The problem is that most follow the wrong group, the unsuccessful 95%, and suffer the same consequences.

Successful individuals started like everyone else—at the bottom. Successful people know they must stand out, think out of the box, and take control of their own lives.

Rich people didn’t become rich out of luck or talent or occult secrets or anything else. Those who are at the top decided to earn more. They made it their business to earn more. And as a result, they became rich.

Decision (goal) + learn how + take constructive action = success

The harsh reality is that 19 out of 20 of these working men have seldom if ever done any constructive thinking on the subject on how they will earn more money, to put it differently, increase their income.

If a person doesn’t decide to cook tomato sauce spaghetti for dinner (goal), he or she will never look up the recipe (learn how), or be able to prepare or cook (constructive action) tomato sauce spaghetti.

Only 1 out 20 (top 5%) men have actually made it their business to earn more money. Just thinking about their goal will lead to zero. The rich took action towards their goal. They decided to become rich. They learned how to earn more money. They studied the recipes of “how” to become rich, and as a result, they made more money.

In your case:

Decide to build more muscle than ever before and maintain muscle mass permanently + learn how + take action on what you learn = a muscular physique

Since only 5% of people know what they desire (goal), all 5% can, and will be winners. In this race, there aren’t even enough contestants to contend against. Even the runner who comes in last can be a winner.

What does this illustration have to do with building muscle?

At your local gym, or any gym anywhere on this planet, out of 100 clients, regardless of their age, experience working out or years lifting weights… how many have the physique they desire?

The bodybuilding community, just like the weight-loss community, are misinformed, and in some cases completely off.

Think of this:

Muscle and Fitness magazine was first published in 1936 by Joe Weider. If you compare side by side a bodybuilding magazine from the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, it will become evident that the workout instructions, nutrition facts, and diets plans are utterly contrasting.

Why is the information so drastically different?

Because the bodybuilding community cannot accurately pin down what builds muscle and burns fat.

Think about what occurs inside the body to build muscle, to accumulate fat or to burn excess body fat.

Only a selective few have the physique they desire because the information available is incorrect or incomplete. And like most who follow the wrong crowd on autopilot without questioning or second thought, they will suffer the same consequences. Unfortunately, this is the plain and simple truth.

Most who carelessly follow gym instructors, trainers, overweight peers, and magazine ghost writers who don’t have a clue what builds muscles or why body fat accumulates in the first place will be led to a dead end.

You may be thinking:

Really? Are you sure? Is this possible?

To find out for yourself, conduct your own survey. Ask people inside and outside the gym, a personal trainer or whoever else question #1.

1. What happens INSIDE the body to build muscle?

In other words, which organs are responsible to build muscles and which cause excess body fat accumulation?

After you evaluate the, “Umm…” and the silent stare you get, ask question #2.

2. After muscles have been built, how is muscle mass maintained?

When the silence becomes too unnerving, move onto the next person.

Ask 10 - 100 - 1,000 people until you are 100% convinced that nobody has the physique or the ability to keep their bodies in shape because they don’t know what builds muscle and causes body fat accumulation in the first place.
