This all-colour, step-by-step guide shows how easy it is to have a dog that is well-trained and well-behaved. It also goes one step further and shows you how, once you have instilled the basics, there are no limits to the tricks and cool things you can teach your dog. Uniquely, we show you how training can be an enjoyable exercise that you do with your dog - other books that make it something serious you do to your dog. Written in a light-hearted, accessible style, this is the one dog training guide that will inspire you to train your dog - the right way.

Carolyn Menteith is a dog trainer and behaviourist with over 20 years' experience of working with animals. As well as writing for national magazines and featuring on radio as a dog expert, she has presented TV programmes such as What's Up Dog (Carlton), Celebrity Dog School (BBC1 for Children in Need) and Barking Babes (Granada). Her own dog, Digby, is an amazing Polish Lowland Sheepdog that has also been seen on many TV programmes.

How to find your perfect dog. All the equipment you will need. The first few days - bringing your dog home and that all-important toilet training. Clear step-by-step training guide for all the skills needed to have a well-behaved dog. All exercises taught using modern scientific principles of reward-based training - no pushing, pulling, shouting or yanking at your dog. How to deal with problems when they arise - and, better still, how to prevent them in the first place. Fun things to do with your dog - how to teach tricks (everything from closing doors to riding a skateboard!), have a go at scent work, and even tackle an agility course. Links to dog organisations, charities, rescue centres - and places where you can shop till you drop for things for your dog.
