A revolution is occurring among parents who see their children failing because of a broken education system. This book joins the change movement by approaching the topic of education policy from the front lines as a direct advocate for students. The author argues that at federal, state and local levels, the policy network needs reorganization, and she provides concrete recommendations for reforms which can bring about performance improvement at the level of student experience as well as organizationally and politically.
Lauren Wood of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Public Policy and Administration, a Master of Science degree in Public Administration-Nonprofit Management and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. However, she credits informal education for much of the development of her worldview. She has found perspective in music, literature and leadership theory, complementing her advocacy mindset toward advancing her community.
Foundations: Racialized Discourse. Foundations: Critical Theory and Critical Pedagogy. Foundations: Hip-Hop Pedagogy. Struggle Defined. Real-world examples. White-suburban-mom-gate. Reorganizing education policy networks.
