In this comprehensive volume, the authors help readers sort through treatment options for more than 300 disorders and help them decide whether to use traditional or alternative medical treatments, or a combination of both. Featured are illustrations of various therapies, helpful medical Web sites, and source lists for more information.
Millions of Americans are interested in natural approaches to healing and disease prevention. But most don't want to abandon conventional medical treatment. Each entry offers: *The signs and symptoms of the condition. *An easy-to-understand description of the disorder. *Basic causes. *Preventive strategies. *Proven conventional treatments.*Options in complementary medicine, including herbal and dietary supplementation, ayurvedic medicine, and Traditional Chinese Medicine. *Illustrations and explanation of some of the most widely used alternative therapies.
