Over the years Sheila Paine has made frequent journeys to India and Pakistan. In particular, she has researched and written a book on the chikan embroidery of India, and has spent several seasons of fieldwork in Pakistan, studying embroidery traditions for the University of Milan and the Worldwide Fund for Nature. She is the author of several books and many articles.
