Launched by "The Daily Telegraph" in 1988, with sponsorship from the "Gateway Building Society", this book is an authoritative annual on the bowls scene. "Woolwich Equitable Building Society" merged with "Gateway" and took over the sponsorship in 1989 and continues to do so in 1990. It is a reference and general interest book, featuring reports and articles from the game's leading writers. There are statistics of all major competitions in the 1989 season and reports, both indoors and outdoors, coverage of crown green and federation games, including petanque. It also includes biographies of leading players and special features by leading bowls authorities, the season in pictures, full coverage of internatinal bowls, the "Bowler of the Year Award", useful addresses, the new Admiral UK Ranking List, full results and round ups of the "1989 World Championships" and "Women's World Championships", and dates for the 1990 season.
