Through the use of multiple image live-action photography, graphics and animation techniques, natural events are seen from a closer and more involved angle. The episode includes footage of some of the most bizarre animals on earth - the living creatures which have survived the test of time to become living reminders of earth's ancient past. Specially created for this episode are massive model re-enactments of the birth of our planet and its changes over the ages, a portrayal of the rise of the mammals after the dinosaurs age; and the Eyewitness Museum is transformed into an archaelogical dig site, giving as unique view into this vast subject and an enduring sense of how short mankind's place in this story really is.
