Financial Communication is the fastest growing discipline within the corporate communication function, particularly in the resilient markets and financial hubs of Asia. The need for talent and for a professional body of knowledge is high. Very frequently, financial journalists and public relations executives are retrained for financial communication. Or, lacking those, university graduates are quickly equipped to perform entry-level tasks and grow with the discipline.

Surprisingly, however, there exists no textbook introduction to financial communication, nor a state-of-the-art overview of its fundamentals. This book aims to fill that gap. Targeted at readers that want to obtain a comprehensive introduction to financial communication, particularly in Southeast Asia, each chapter covers one of the fundamentals of the discipline. All chapters are written by senior professionals and academics and come with a wealth of practical and applicable knowledge.

Gregor Halff is Associate Professor of Corporate Communication Practice at Singapore Management University (SMU) and the founding Academic Director of SMU’s MSc in Communication Management Programme. He is an Honorary Professor at ISM, one of Germany’s leading undergraduate business schools and a Visiting Professor at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. Gregor was managing partner at Publicis, where he co-founded and headed their public relations agencies in Germany and where he continues to work with international clients. Before joining Publicis, Gregor worked in corporate communication at Siemens (Munich and Mumbai, among others). He holds a summa cum laude Ph.D. in communication. Ng Wei Joo is a partner in Tulchan’s Singapore office. He was a journalist for 11 years, before he moved into corporate communication work in the banking and real estate space. He was DBS’s Vice-President for Investment Communication and Research (Consumer Banking) and Vice-President for Corporate Communications at CapitaLand. His last assignment before Tulchan was as Head, Group Communications, United Overseas Bank (UOB). Weijoo is also President of the Institute of Public Relations of Singapore.
