This book studies the simulation of wireless networking in the domain of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) involving aircraft, railway and vehicular communication. On this subject, particular focus is placed on effective communication channels, mobility modeling, multi-technology simulation and global ITS simulation frameworks.

Networking Simulation for Intelligent Transportation Systems addresses the mixing of IEEE802.11p and LTE into a dedicated simulation environment as well as the links between ITS and IoT; aeronautical mobility and VHD Data Link (VDL) simulation; virtual co-simulation for railway communication and control-command; realistic channel simulation, mobility modeling and autonomic simulation for VANET and quality metrics for VANET.

The authors intend for this book to be as useful as possible to the reader as they provide examples of methods and tools for running realistic and reliable simulations in the domain of communications for ITS.

Benoit HILT is Assistant Professor of computer networking at the University of Haute-Alsace, France. His current research focuses on high mobility wireless communication, realistic simulation in the ITS domain and cooperative communication for autonomous driving. Marion BERBINEAU is currently Research Director at IFSTTAR and Deputy Director of the Components and SYStems Department that consists of 310 persons within 13 laboratories. Dr Berbineau field of expertise are EM propagation and modeling, channel characterization and modeling for transport and complex environments, particularly in tunnels; signal processing for wireless communication systems in multipath environments, MIMO systems and Cognitive Radio for ITS and for railway applications including control-command, video surveillance, passenger information. Alexey VINEL is currently a Guest Professor with the School of Information Science, Computer and Electrical Engineering, Halmstad University, Halmstad, Sweden (on leave from the Department of Signal Processing, Tampere University of Technology, Tampere, Finland). He has been an Associate Editor for IEEE Communications Letters since 2012. His research interests include multiple-access protocols and intelligent transportation systems.
